He is Umar. He was born at 27 weeks of gestation having a birth weight of 1.1 kg. He stayed with us in NICU for more than 3 weeks. He was sent home on Nasogastric feeding because his sucking reflex was not developed at that time. Its his 2nd visit after discharge. Now the corrected gestational age is 33 weeks , still four weeks to go till term. He is taking oral feed now and he is 1.3 kg now. His mother is educated and taking very good care of him. She is an inspiration of so many other mothers taking care of these challenging babies.

I have been working in the field of Pediatrics for more than 16 years. I have been dealing with extremely premature and low birth weight newborns. I have also been treating older children with different infections and chronic diseases. The objective of this blog is to share the experiences and create awareness regarding child health.
